baconRadio?!?   BaconRadio?!?

Today’s post is just a bunch of randomness that I’ve had floating around my noggin’.

Favorite pirate quote found so far:

“I come from hell,
and I’ll carry you there presently.”

No I mean it.
Now.
Go.
Click dammit!

I started a post about how I write music. It’s embarrassing… but hey, someone asked. Look for it in a week or two.

Ford is sick. Welcome to the new school year. He barfed on his mom tonight. I was at work. Lucky!

Spencer’s. Lava lamp. $20. As office gear, it’s totally worth it.

July 2008 - Travels and Surprises!

Saturday, July 19th, 2008

A new gallery is up! The follow statements may be truths, half-truth and/or lies:

  • JD is leaving us at work. :( But we got good and drunk in my office and sang a few old sea shanties one evening last week. Towards the end of the evening Mallen threw up in my filing cabinet.
  • Our RPG group is having a good time. Photo’s in the gallery include an evening of play-testing a not-to-named-I-signed-an-NDA system. It was fun, but I ate something odd and left early. I suspect it was the tabasco jerky.
  • Random photo’s at the office. My boss is in the middle. Isn’t she laid-back? Literally!
  • We went to Mt. Washington (the annual company outing) and quite by coincidence ran into my grand-dad who was there with his Classic Car Club. So we had lunch and he gave us a tour of some cars. Ford was super-excited at being able to sit in a few beauties.
  • Side note: I think my grand-dad looks kind of like a hobbit. He’s short, slightly round and has wavy white hair. Very Ian Holme.
  • As always, the white mountains were bee-yoo-tee-full!
  • We saw a moose but it died on the side of the road later that day.
  • Would you buy a house from these people?
  • My in-laws came up and did some duck-boating.
No music this month. I’m just not motivated…well maybe tomorrow…we’ll see. I have some time carved out for space.

May and most of June

Friday, June 27th, 2008

Things in the Stark Household have been fairly normal with numerous outings and fun times had by all. Let’s hit some of the high points and a couple lows:

  • Museum of Science is one of Ford’s favorite places and we had a blast there.
  • I saw Iron Man three times and The Incredible Hulk Twice. Ford is enjoying his Iron Man action figures, and so am I! Marvel seems to have figured out how to get it right (finally.)
  • Life at The MathWorks is great! We had a great 1.5 day contest/event/love-in where everyone had a day to pick some “annoying itch” at work and spend the day fixing it (or coming up with a plan to fix it.) It was great fun! People were hacking away on code, but also process changes, new ideas for organization, communication…it was fantastic.
  • Ford has enjoyed his his first season in T-Ball. (Photo’s in the gallery.)
  • I’ve started playing in Role Playing group every two weeks. (Yeah, geek. I know.) It’s been so long since I did anything like that I’d forgotten how much fun it can be with a good group. Stress the part about GOOD group. If the chemistry isn’t there, it sucks. Our group has potential, so I’m sticking with it to see where it goes. I *am* having a good time. (Thanks Jeb!) We’ve played two systems so far (both new to me.) Serenity (A space opera/western setting based on the cancelled (*sob*) show FireFly and TORG which I enjoyed, but obviously we only scratched it’s surface.
  • Mallen has me hooked on Shadowrun…bought the rulebook and am now researching my future character. (Again, (*points to self*) Geek.)
  • I have NOT worked on any music in the last 6 weeks, but am getting an additional sound library for my birthday (thanks honey) which will probably drive some output for July.
  • Ford is alleric to penecillin. We know this now because he just about died last week. All is well now, but phew…scary stuff.

Hmmm. That’s all for now. See you in a couple weeks!

Blog changes and fiddly bits for April

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

After years of start/stop blogging, I ran into a coworker’s site which illustrated to me how to blog infrequently yet without lack-of-update guilt: just update monthly. Gather up whatever art, music, images,  or words you feel sum up the month and post that in one orgasmic blog rush. Then forget about it till next month. Oh sure if you have something you *have* to share, you can always post. This allows me to microblog (twitter is my size) the silly stuff and let the little tidbits of life gather in my subconscious corners before being splashed here at the end of lunar cycle (or whatever.) Groovy.

So with that: This month saw the creation of my wife’s first photo gallery, I did blog the 2nd Annual Bachelor Fest, which featured the Best BLT Sandwich Ever, and my own social networking experience grew slightly (I’ve never been a huge fan but the emergent ideas and data is often very interesting,) so I started fiddling with last.fm. Yes, old news. I’m playing catch-up. Oh and I finished a piece for ‘Verse, which you can sample. More next month!
